I'm Back

Ok, so the shelves are in and I am emptying out all the towels and laundry stuff.  Time to get organized.  I can't get my creative genius on when all I can think about is dishes, laundry, and diapers.  Speaking of creative genius I have been talking to an old friend lately and he just finished writing his first book.  I mentioned that I would be happy to paint a picture for him and in a stroke of genius I started painting a cover for that book.
So this is what I have so far.  I am not sure how I feel about her hair so I may scrap it and start over.  We will see.
In addition to all of that I just made a ton of baby food for my angel, Scarlet.  I am so lucky to have a food saver.  It is so easy to steam, blend, seal, and freeze.  And not to mention way cheaper.
Well back to work.

New Week New Opportunities

This is going to be an amazing week!  I am so excited to start this new week.  My plans are huge.  I have had my nose in a book since the beginning of the weekend.  I am putting up my shelves, starting the soap making process, planning my garden, keeping up on the house, my plans are infinite.  I have a rough draft of my business plan and I have ordered a few samples of packaging products.  In addition to that one of my good friends is writing a book and I am working on a cover.  We will see how it turns out.  Well, back to work.

Business Plan

Today I am finishing the house and writing my business plan.  I have be scouring the Internet to find relevant information on this topic.  I have books out the wazoo on starting a small business and my eyes feel like they are going to pop out of my head.  I started noting the book and page number of good points in a journal so I can go back to them.  I did not realize this would be so hard.  I have read that this is the least fun part.  I really just want to get back to crafting.  Boo!!  Good news is when I am done with this I wont have to do it again.  I can not believe that there is so much to do.  Open bank accounts just for my business, set up a website, register my business name, create a budget, price and buy supplies, price my products, create a label, create a logo, file the legal forms, and more.  Oh my gosh.  My head hurts just thinking about it.  Well, back to the grind.

Productivity

Good Morning Followers,
Today is Thursday and I still have six rooms left.  I slacked yesterday and only cleaned the kitchen.  Today I will be cleaning the guest bathroom, the living room, and the office.  The living room will take a while because it is still full of Christmas stuff and the office has become an unofficial storage room.  However there is no reason to store things in the office due to the fact that I have a shed in the backyard.
I have also been slacking on the gym.  I was supposed to go workout Monday and Wednesday but both days I found an excuse and decided to stay home.  Granted I did clean instead of working out but I still need to head to the gym tonight.  I have to make up my cardio from two days and I don't want to wait till Friday.  Then I will have to make up three and I don't want to do three hours of cardio on Friday.
Today is going to be a good day.  In addition to getting a ton done at home I have an appointment with my mom and sister to go get a pedicure at 4:15 and then the gym after that.  Tuesday I am having an old friend over, Miss Chandra Calvert, to hang out and possibly make some soap.  I will let you all know how that goes.
Well, if I am going to take off this afternoon and take Tuesday off I better get back to work.
Have a great day everyone and thanks for reading.

To do list

Good morning bloggers,
So I awoke this morning with the need to clean.  I am determined to have this house spotless by this weekend.  I want to start setting up my studio but it is going to be in the basement and I do not want to start emptying that room till I am done with the rest of the house.  It is still full of everything that I got from my dad when he died.  Guitars, amps, books, cooking stuff, random things, and so much more.

So this is how I figure it.  I essentially have eleven rooms in my house.  Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, laundry room, living room, family room, kitchen, dinning room, and the basement.  I have four days left including today.  So if my math is correct that has me doing three rooms a day and taking a break on Friday.

I guess it is that time again.  Time to make a list of all that needs to get done in addition to the basic cleaning, vacuuming, and dusting.
  • In the family room: go through all dog toys and throw away the old ones, change the water in the salt water tank.
  • In the kitchen: clean out fridge, clean microwave, clean oven.
  • In the living room: change the water in the fresh water tank, prune the orange tree, measure the staples on the couches for reupholstering, hang all pictures.
  • Guest Bathroom: repaint, hang crown molding.
  • Laundry room: hang shelves.
  • Office: move lizard to living room next to fish tank, organize all important tax papers.
  • Master Bathroom: repaint, remove wallpaper.
Things to do that will take some time:
  • Painting the bathrooms
  • Refinishing the cabinets
  • Replacing the counters with granite
  • Replacing the carpet
  • Upholstering the couches and chairs
  • Painting
  • Crown molding
With all the basics done I can then start to work in the basement and leave the second list for when we have extra time, and money.

The longer I stay on here the less time I have to clean my three rooms today.  I think today I will start with the family room, the dinning room, and the laundry room. So that includes the water change, the dog toys, and hanging the shelves.

Wish me luck.

Free Time?

Yea right.  Who has free time nowadays?  Between my daughter, cleaning the house, and trying to start a business I barely have time to shower.  But, I digress.  I have made time to do some of the times that I love.  I have painted a little,

Did some pottery,

And made a dress for Scarlet for Christmas,

I recently bought a new book on bonsai origami.  Very interesting I must say.  I bought a new indoor meyer lemon tree that seems to be thriving.  I am quite excited about that.  I love to have fresh fruit but living in Colorado does not exactly promote the ease of growing citrus.  I do have several hardier fruit trees in the backyard garden but it is nice to have green all year round.
I am getting ready to hook up the kiln and the potters wheel here at home and see how that pans out.  I also got a few books about the composition of glazes that I can't wait to read.  None of this was on my NYR but i guess it should have been.  My NYR was to get my business up and off the ground and hopefully that will happen sooner rather than later.

Day 1

Hello everyone,
This is my first attempt at a blog.  I am very excited to start sharing my work and my life with you.  As those of you who know me are already aware I am a very busy person.  I am a wife, a mother, and an artist.  My daughter, Scarlet will be 1 in February so I have my hands full.  I am also looking at finishing my basement to build my studio.  My chosen medium is clay but I also dabble in a little of everything.  I paint, sculpt, sew, draw, cook, garden, keep fish, pretty much anything I can get my hands on.  The only thing that I don't do is knit or crochet.  My hat off to those of you who do.  I am not sure how you spend so much time on one thing.  I need instant gratification.  Please feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you are thinking.  I am excited to get to know all of you and thanks for hanging out with me.
